UK: London-based owner-operator Clermont Hotel Group has opened The Academy, a learning and development centre to train new and existing employees.

Clermont Hotel Group employs over 1,600 members of staff across its 17 hotels and head office in London.

The Academy, located within The Tower Hotel, provides a classroom and a mock reception area for employees to learn more about the business.

Curriculum at The Academy involves a mix of face-to-face and virtual masterclasses, along with downloadable content such as how-to guides and development toolkits to support mental health and wellbeing.

In addition, the company partners with accredited apprenticeship providers to offer its employees qualifications that range from Level 2 Production Chef to Level 7 Accountancy.

Amanda Hall, head of learning and development at Clermont Hotel Group, said: “We are delighted to be presenting The Academy to our wonderful people. They are at the heart of everything we do for our customers, and their development is of huge importance as we set out to grow and expand the business following the rebrand from Great London Hospitality (glh).

“As part of our journey to becoming Clermont Hotel Group, we underwent a significant project internally to craft a refreshed set of core values. Speaking to our teams and discovering exactly what it is that’s important to them while at work, we landed on three: bold, adaptable, and real,” added Hall.

Every employee is coached in these three core values and how they can be implemented through workshops in The Academy.
