US/Italy: Sustainable hotel brand Beyond Green, part of Preferred Hotel Group, has welcomed five member properties located across the United States and Italy.

The new hotels bring the total portfolio at Beyond Green to 31 properties in 18 countries.

Recently added members include:

Edgewood Tahoe Resort (Nevada, US) – a LEED Silver certified resort with 154 rooms, a spa, golf course, and three dining venues. Since opening in 2017, the resort has introduced electric car charging stations, recycling and community clean-up programmes, a reduction of water and chemical usage, and increased the local wildlife around the golf course and Edgewood Creek.

Inn by the Sea (Maine, US) – located in Portland, the 62-room Inn by the Sea offers one and two bedroom suites with private exterior entrances, a LEED certified spa, and sustainable restaurant Sea Glass. The resort includes  indigenous nectar gardens with milkweed planted to attract butterflies, and the team is working to resort the habitat for endangered New England cottontail rabbits.

The Palms Hotel & Spa (Florida, US) – the oceanfront, family-owned resort offers 251 rooms, The Palms AVEDA Spa, and a restaurant which serves locally sourced ingredients in its menu. The hotel operates with close to zero disposable plastics and has implemented a fully automated in-room energy management system to control lighting and air conditioning.

Lefay Resort & SPA Dolomiti (Pinzolo, Italy) – opened in 2019, Lefay Resort is set within a UNESCO World Heritage Site of Italy’s Dolomite Mountains. With 88 suites and 21 residences, the resort offers two restaurants and bars, a spa, and all-season access to mountain sports such as skiing, trekking, cycling, and more. Investment in technology has enabled the hotel to create renewable energy sources such as a biomass furnace and co-generation plant.

Lefay Resort & SPA Lago di Garda (Gargano, Italy) – located on Italy’s Lake Garda, the five-star resort offers 96 suites, a spa, and two restaurants and bars. Having opened in 2008, Lefay Resorts is one of the first Italian companies in the tourism sector to sign an agreement with the Ministry of the Environment for projects aimed at neutralising CO2 emissions.

All member hotels have now received new Beyond Green plaques and lapel pins.
