Early in the morning on the 16th of March, a fire broke out at The Angel in Midhurst, a 400-year-old hotel in West Sussex, forcing over 30 people to evacuate. The West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service responded to reports of the fire at North Street, Midhurst, at 1:08 am.
The fire was significant, primarily affecting the roof space of the hotel, and had spread to nearby properties by the time the firefighters arrived. To combat the blaze, 15 fire engines, two aerial ladder platforms, two water carriers, an off-road vehicle, and a high-volume pump were deployed to the scene.
The West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed that the firefighters are working hard to bring the fire under control and are expected to remain on site for a considerable amount of time.
Fortunately, everyone has been safely evacuated, and a relief center has been established in Midhurst for those who have been displaced.
