Premier Inn has confirmed the opening of its second hotel in Dublin city centre this month on Monday 20 March.

The venue, which is located on Gloucester Street South, has 113-bedrooms in the hotel brand’s latest format and is minutes away from Trinity College, Temple Bar and North Docklands.

Whitbread, the parent company of Premier Inn, has recruited more than 45 new team members to run the Gloucester Street South hotel.

Premier Inn opened its first hotel in Dublin city centre at South Great Georges Street in November 2021 and also operates a 213-bedroom hotel at Swords, close to Dublin Airport.

Elsewhere in the city, the brand’s new hotels are currently being constructed at The Liberties, which will have 151 bedrooms, and North Docklands with 262 bedrooms, as well as an 187-bedroom Premier Inn in Cork City Centre, which is scheduled to open in December 2023.

Premier Inn, which currently offers 83,000 rooms across the UK, is currently looking for new locations across Dublin and in Galway, Kildare, Killarney and Limerick.

Matt Gent, development manager for Premier Inn Ireland, said: “The new Gloucester Street South hotel kicks off an exciting year ahead for Premier Inn in Ireland. It is the first of four new Premier Inn hotels we are on track to open in Dublin and Cork city centres this financial year as we work towards our target of 4,000 Premier Inn rooms across Ireland.

“The new ten-storey building is located on the corner of Princes Street South and Gloucester Street South and gives us a presence in the south of Dublin for the first time. It strengthens our network in the city centre once again and I am sure it will be a very popular choice with our business and leisure customers.”

He added: “As ever, I owe a huge thanks to our development partners Red Rock Developments and both ours and their professional and contractor teams for delivering such a wonderful new hotel for us in a superb location.”
